| Personal History | Zach grew up in a middle class neighborhood. Having never really known his parents, he was raised in a series of foster homes until he finally was placed in the home of Alex and Millicent Jacobsen. He immediately felt as if he found his home there. Up until this time, Zach had been quiet and sullen. It was through helping his foster mother with her gardening that he started on his career into science. Zach and his foster brother Roland became fast friends despite being different. Zach preferred biology and science classes while Roland was into sports, played football and did as little school work as he could get by with. He had a good relationship with both of his foster sisters but never was as close to them as Roland. Zach dated Annette Peterson during high school, whom he first met when she became his lab partner. She was Zach's first love and it was with her that he found his love for camping. After high school Zach and Annette went to the academy together and continued their relationship. Since they were studying the same area at he academy, they bad most of their classes together and ended up studying together. On the weekends they would hang out with friends where ever there was a party going on. Zach had always assumed, along with Annette that they would be stationed together but that was not the case. They decided they would be one of those couples that made long distance relationships work but that was not the case. After a few months they both realized they were more in love with there mutual interest in science than each other. Zach knew he was correct in his decision when he realized that he wasn't all that bothered by the breakup. His first assignment was on the USS Zenith. Zach had gone on with rose colored glasses, planning on discovering something important immediately and that every day would be an adventure. He soon learned patience which is a valued trait for a scientist. Zach learned a lot from his superiors in the three years he was there. Zach was then transferred to the USS Pioneer where he is seeing more missions and gaining more hands on experience. |
